Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy Be Pain – Free!

What is It?

Prolotherapy, which is the short name for “Proliferative Injection Therapy” is a treatment for relieving pain by helping the body repair injured joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

What is Involved?

An initial office visit is completed with the physician to obtain pertinent information about your medical history, a physical examination and a nutrition consult. You are then informed about the specific benefits, risks and anticipated outcomes of prolotherapy as it pertains to you. The injection itself only takes 5 minutes.

The injection consists of an anti-inflammatory medication (kenalog), vitamin B12, a pain medication (buffered procaine and/or lidocaine), and an appropriate homeopathic preparation. The injection is usually minimally uncomfortable. You may continue with your normal activities immediately after the treatment.

What is Prolozone?

Prolozone is the same as Prolotherapy, but now combined with ozone to help the cells and tissues repair themselves. Ozone is supercharged oxygen (O3 versus O2). Injury results in the loss of oxygen to the tissue. The first step in the loss of oxygen is the development of inflammation. Inflammation sustained over a substantial period of time results in disease, and eventually death, if not corrected. We use an in-office ozone generator to produce the super-charged oxygen and inject it into the affected area along with the prolotherapy.

Why Do I Need a Nutrition Consult?

After nearly 20 years of clinical experience with musculoskeletal diseases the root cause or pre-disposing factor to these is diseases is improper nutrition. This ranges from poor food choices to inadequate intake of specific nutrients to support the body in its continuous self-detoxification, repair, rejuvenation processes. The plain use of supplements is insufficient and at times is counterproductive to the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.

We as humans, do not know what we know until an expert helps us in our journey of wellness. We as humans, need accountability to motivate us to be our best and achieve our highest.

How Come I’ve Never Heard of This?

Prolotherapy has been around since 1830. It was first used for medical purposes by the Germans to help repair hernias. Large numbers of patients started to be treated in the US by Drs. Hackett and Hemwall in the 1950′s. Increasingly, more patients are obtaining relief through the hands of physicians trained in the technique.
